I watched Project Hail Mary and got sucked into the Goslingverse.

There are a number of fics I'm eying to bind, but I already have a WIP list and they will take far too long for me to tackle. Luckily, I was looking up some Goslingverse crossovers and stumbled across this fic from Twitter user tunariceball, who made a wonderful fic about Courtland (The Gray Man) and Grace (Project Hail Mary) meeting each other in prison. The fic also inspired @chicharonie22 to make a fanart of the meeting that I had to include!

I haven't made a simple pamphlet bind in so long, yet I found myself enjoying my time weaving the pages and gluing the front/back cover strips. Such a simple bind, yet such a perfect form for short fics! Perhaps I can make more of these to tide myself over till I have some more free time.

Thanks to tunariceball for the fic and to @chicharonie22 for the fanart!

► Yesterday, I played through Cute Bite, a game that’s been on my Steam wishlist for a while now. It’s one of those Princess Maker-style raising simulators… with the twist in this one being that you’re raising your vampiric mistress, who has become de-aged and amnesiac after being locked in a coffin for a very long time.

More specifically: said vampiric mistress (default name Buttercup) was locked away by her “father” (the MC’s previous master), who the MC (default name Saule) had been reliant on for her own immortality. So now she has one year to help her new vampiric mistress regain her adult form, because otherwise she won’t have the power to perform the ritual that extends Saule’s life.

It was a pretty cute game, and a fun example of the genre! Nothing groundbreaking, true, but very charming. My first ending involved beneath the cut )

► About an hour into the game, I found myself thinking of my current tendency to turn everything into Scum Villain fic fodder, and thought to myself, “ha, even I can’t turn this into fic for Scum Vi—wait. Bing-ge. Bing-ge being de-aged back to his amnesiac white lotus self and being raised by SQQ… SQQ’s life being dependent on how well he raises Binghe or not… oh no, this actually works way too well.” minor spoilers for Cute Bite beneath the cut )

Name: Elmyra (not.. like the character from Tiny Toons, like Aerith's mom from FFVII)
Age: I'm 18. Barely an adult, but an adult nonetheless.
Location: The Deep South, USA
Subscription/Access Policy: None. This is my "entirely public" journal where I post fandom stuff and silly life anecdotes. No qualms with minors as my journal is SFW, but I'd prefer anyone under 15 to keep their distance. I would also prefer not to interact with incest or pedophilia shippers, thanks.

Main Fandoms: Blue Lock, Wind Breaker, Tiger & Bunny, The Idolm@ster SideM
Other Fandoms: Vocaloid (or Vocal Synth if we want to get specific), Trauma Center, Promare
I have other random miscellaneous interests that don't take up quite as much brain space as well. I'm very slowly but surely trying to get into other stuff as well.
Fannish Interests: Fanart, fanmade merch, oshikatsu, making fan characters, and attempting to write fic to varying degrees of success.
OTPs and Ships: Let it be known that I am a multishipper, and also a huge OC x Canon fan-- I honestly spend more thinking about my OC x CC ships nowadays than CC x CC ships. Oh, and Background Character x Background Character. Here are some involving canon and at least somewhat-relevant characters I enjoy, though
Blue Lock: Allsagi within reason, no Egosagi, Noasagi, stuff like that. I also don't particularly care for Kaisagi but I don't have an issue with it, just not my cup of tea, but I specifically really enjoy Bachisagi, Kurosagi, Igasagi. Kunigiri, Nagireo, Kainess, Kindness Trio (Isagi/Nanase/Hiori), Tabiori, Tabieta, Aikusen
Wind Breaker: Sakunirei, Momjisaku, Sugisaku, Sugisakunirei, Togatomi, Hiisako, Umetsuba. You can also get me to enjoy Natokon(?) on occasion.
Tiger & Bunny: Pretty much exclusively Taibani.
SideM (I am not super familiar with precise ship names, apologies!): Terukao, Kaotsuba, Reishiki, Natsujun

Favorite Movies: I really only care about Promare and that's about it.
TV Shows: Nothing I haven't already mentioned.
Books: Flowers for Algernon, Things Fall Apart
Music: Oh boy, a little bit of everything? But my favorite artists are Interpol, Abandoned Pools, and sElf. As previously mentioned I'm really into Vocaloid as well.
Games: Trauma Center, Tomodachi Life, Splatoon, Pony Town
Comics/Anime/Misc: See "TV Shows", in reference to anime (or manga). I like science, history, old internet/fandom culture/software, editing, and coding.

Other Info: Pre-med student looking to specialize in forensic medicine. Proud autistic. Sapphic and taken, I have a lovely partner! Infamously attached to side/background characters. Please ignore how my journal is empty, I'm still deciding what to put as my first post. :P

Banner with text '11 Million Users!' surrounded with confetti

Did someone make a wish for more Archive of Our Own (AO3) users at 11:11? Because that wish has come true and we are proud to share that just four months after we celebrated 10 million registered users, AO3 now has 11 million registered users! This means an average of around 250,000 people have made an AO3 account every month since then.

In honor of getting what we wished for, we're spotlighting the Gift feature on AO3! Gifts are works that are dedicated by the creators. For example, a work may have been written for a friend's birthday, created for a Gift Exchange, or simply something you made while thinking of someone else. Is there anyone you've created fanworks for that you'd like to spotlight? You can gift something to someone even if they don't have an AO3 account!

If you'd like to gift a work to someone else, refer to How do I gift a work to someone? or refer to our general Gifts FAQ for more information.

Thank you for being a part of this milestone with us and we look forward to celebrating many more achievements with you in the future (18 million works is right around the corner)!

This is a callout post for one of my worst habits, namely, buying editions of Scum Villains in languages that I can’t read. I was looking at my personal library tracking spreadsheet yesterday evening, and discovered that I own fifteen volumes of Scum Villain across four different languages. Over the weekend, I found this wiki page listing all the different official releases Scum Villain has had globally, and this was arguably a dangerous discovery, as it led to my almost immediately purchasing a version I hadn’t been aware of before then (the 2022 traditional Chinese rerelease)… and eyeing another one I really want (2025 simplified Chinese version)… or maybe more than one asdfghjkl;

But I’m also really excited about getting my hands on the 2022 version! I looked it up on eBay on the same day, and found that someone in my country was auctioning it off for a reasonable price—with the auction ending the next day (Sunday). I set a timer, stalked it very closely, set a truly ridiculous maximum high bid… but no one else bidded on it, so I got it for that reasonable price after all! It’s actually already arrived (yesterday, which is why I was looking at my spreadsheet in the first place… had to log my new acquisition, after all!), and I’m so pleased with it. It’s so pretty!

And, vitally, it was also the “deluxe edition”, according to the ebay listing, which means that it came with a little box of merch—postcards and mini file folders and the like. This is what I was the most excited about, because that makes it so much easier to display the, quite frankly, gorgeous art and character designs from this version!

One of the things included was this plastic block-type thing (idk what it’s actually supposed to be) that had this image on it, and—omg. The cat. THE CAT. This is now canon in my heart. Post-canon Bingqiu ABSOLUTELY get a cute little orange cat as a pet at some point, and absolutely no one can tell me otherwise, lol.

more rambling about the different versions & how I ended up becoming this kind of ridiculous person beneath the cut )

Honestly, the most important part of this entry (and the reason why I started writing this in the first place) is, in fact, Bingqiu and the orange cat that they absolutely now have, with the rest just being my own self-indulgent rambling.

Every Thursday, we have a community post, just like this one, where you can drop a rec or five in the comments.

This works great if you only have one rec and don't want to make a whole post for it, or if you don't have a DW account, or if you're shy. ;)

(But don't forget: you can deffo make posts of your own seven days a week. ;D!)

So what cool other kinds of fanworks/fanart/fics/fanvids/fancrafts/podfics have we discovered this week? Drop it in the comments below. Anon comment is enabled.

BTW, AI fanworks are not eligible for reccing at recthething. If you aware that a fanwork is AI-generated, please do not rec it here.

This dragonfly pendant is very light and delicate so I decided to go with something small and light. I used varied shades of grey and black to match.

Included are hematite cylinders and balls, fire polish ovals, and glass seed beads.

I'm in a new (to me) fandom now, so I figured it was a good time to post my interests here, in case there are fans looking for others who share some niche favorites that you don't find too often...

Name: Cat
Age group: Fandom elder
Country: USA
Posting Habits: I usually post several times a week. 98% of my posts are fandom-related. That's why I'm here.
Dealbreakers: Conservative Republicans, fascists, 'phobes of all stripes, racists. I'm liberal and queer, for the record.
Subscription/Access Policy: Feel free to subscribe, I will do the same if we have similar interests. The majority of my journal posts are unlocked, so you aren't missing much by not having access. That means I may not grant access until after I've known you a while (depending on our mutual interests).

Main Fandoms: Miami Vice is my main #1 obsession right now.
Other Main Fandoms: (in timeline order) Star Trek, Starsky and Hutch, Quantum Leap, The Sentinel, Moonlight (TV), Torchwood, Leverage, Good Omens. I never leave any favs behind, once I love them I never stop. I'm always up for discussions about them, and still write fanfic in many of them.
Fannish Interests: I am a huge shipper of everything: m/m, m/f, f/f, and multi, but the majority of my current interests are m/m.
More Fannish Interests: I read and write fanfic, I like to make banners, icons, mood boards, music playlists, too.  I do Miami Vice slashy episode recaps over on Tumblr.
OTPs and Ships: Sonny/Rico, Hardison/Parker/Eliot, S/H, Sam/Al, Jim/Blair, Mick/Beth, Josef/OMC/OFC, Janto, Aziraphale/Crowley. I mostly stick with the obvious (canon partners, friends, etc.).

Favourite Movies: I don't watch many movies these days, but a lot of my favs are those great 1980s classics. I love the Donald Strachey Mystery series, and Star Trek AOS.
TV Shows:  I love a lot of shows from the 1970s and 1980s. I'm a nostalgia whore, and I love talking about the oldies. In addition to the ones listed above: The Equalizer (2021 Queen Latifah), Star Trek Discovery, Broadchurch, The X-Files, Red Dwarf, Blake's 7, Veronica Mars, Riptide, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, Hardcastle & McCormick, Crossing Jordan, Doctor Who.
Other Characters: characters I don't usually ship but adore. Martha Jones, Rose Tyler, James Kirk, John Doggett, Robyn McCall (Equalizer).
Music: 1970s/1980s classic Rock, especially hair bands. Alt-rock from the 1990s. R&B (always listened to the Quiet Storm!), Motown. I'm pretty eclectic, although I don't go for much Country or Classical, and I'm not up on most of the current popular stuff.
Artists: LP, Melissa Etheridge, Daughtry, Poison, Kiss, 3 Doors Down, Tom Jones. I love a lot of songs from a variety of artists, but I rarely like enough songs by one artist to really consider myself a huge fan of theirs. The ones above are an exception to that.

Spotlight on Open Doors banner

Kraith Collected, a collection of Star Trek zines set in the Kraith universe, is importing a copy of the zines’ fanworks to the Archive of Our Own (AO3).

In this post:

Background explanation

Kraith Collected is a series of works in the Kraith universe, a series of Star Trek: The Original Series fanfictions, many originally published in other zines. Each volume contains works by Jacqueline Lichtenberg and other writers whose works went through several rounds of edits to be given a number in the Kraith chronology and become part of the official Kraith universe. There are also two pieces of meta, Kraith Creator's Manual and Understanding Kraith, which describe the Kraith universe.

The fanzines to be imported are:

The purpose of the Open Doors Committee’s AO3 Fanzine Scan Hosting Project (FSHP) is to assist publishers of fanzines to incorporate the fanworks from those fanzines into the Archive of Our Own. It is extremely important to Open Doors that we work in collaboration with publishers who want to import their fanzines and that we fully credit creators, giving them as much control as possible over their fanworks. Open Doors will be working with Kraith Collected to import a copy of the fanzines listed above into separate, searchable collections on the Archive of Our Own. As part of preserving the fanzines in their entirety, all art in the fanzines will be hosted on the OTW's servers and embedded in their own AO3 work pages.

We will begin importing works from Kraith Collected to AO3 after July 2026. However, the import may not take place for several months or even years, depending on the size and complexity of the task. Creators are always welcome to import their own works and add them to the collections in the meantime.

What does this mean for creators who had work(s) in Kraith Collected?

We will send an import notification to the email address we have for each creator. We'll do our best to check for an existing copy of any works before importing. If we find a copy already on AO3, we will add it to the collection instead of importing it. All works archived on behalf of a creator will include their name in the byline or the summary of the work.

All imported works will be set to be viewable only by logged-in AO3 users. Once you claim your works, you can make them publicly-viewable if you choose. After 30 days, all unclaimed imported works will be made visible to all visitors.

Please contact Open Doors with your creator pseud(s) and email address(es), if:

  • You'd like us to import your works, but you need the notification sent to a different email address than the publisher has a record of.
  • You already have an AO3 account and have imported your works already yourself.
  • You’d like to import your works yourself (including if you don’t have an AO3 account yet).
  • You would NOT like your works copied to AO3, or would NOT like your works added to the fanzine collections.
  • You are happy for us to preserve your works on AO3, but would like us to remove your name.
  • You have any other questions we can help you with.

Please include the name of the publisher or fanzine in the subject heading of your email. If you no longer have access to the email account the publisher has a record of, please contact Open Doors and we'll help you out. (If you've posted the works elsewhere, or have an easy way to verify that they're yours, that's great; if not, we will work with Kraith Collected to confirm your claims.)

Please see the Open Doors website for instructions on:

If you still have questions...

If you have further questions, visit the Open Doors FAQ, or contact the Open Doors committee.

We'd also love it if fans could help us preserve the story of Kraith Collected, Kraith Creator’s Manual, and Understanding Kraith on Fanlore. If you're new to wiki editing, no worries! Check out the new visitor portal, or ask the Fanlore Gardeners for tips.

We're excited to be able to help preserve Kraith Collected!

- The Open Doors team and Jacqueline Lichtenberg

For lack of better title... It could be a keychain; it could be a phone charm. Right now, it's hanging off of my phone.

After seeing a Tumblr post that stuck with me, I managed to find some alphabet beads that matched in color enough to recreate the words. Serendipitously, with three lines, the number of letters matched perfectly, otherwise I was considering sewing the words to fabric stretched on an embroidery hoop.

I think I did a modified square stitch, putting this all together. "Modified", because I think I did it backwards... It's holding together, and I can only hope my knots hold, so I don't drop beads like confetti out of nowhere.

(Original post. I only found this community recently and more recently decided to actually share on it.)
